This oversized hoodie is made from an antique baby quilt and a vintage chenille bedspread. I believe the baby quilt is from the 1920's based on Kewpie doll design which was popular during that time frame. The back, hood and sleeves of the hoodie are made from chenille and lined with vintage gingham. This hoodie has two oversized pockets on the front featuring some of the creepy-cute Kewpie embroidery. Seams are serged and flat-felled for added strength and reduced bulk. This style is meant to be "oversized" both because it's meant to be a comfy cozy garment and because it is designed for low to no stretch materials. This means you need a little more "ease" compared to a stretchy fabric like a knit.
Size: XL (This size will fit approximately a womens size 16/18/20. If you are unsure on sizing, you can measure a well-fitting garment with a similar style and compare the measurements.)
Chest: 58"
Shoulder to Hem: 30.5"
A note about vintage materials: I strive to find vintage pieces that are "fit for wear" meaning I will not use quilts that have shattered, thinning sections or large or obvious stains. Pieces of this age may have small pin holes or repairs, and sometimes faint yellowing or small spots. These are to be expected and part of the character of a vintage piece. To protect the garment, I recommend hand washing or machine washing in cold water on a delicate cycle with the wrong side turned out, and hanging or laying flat to dry.
